Loyaltynet has announced the launch of Wacko Search, a web site that helps users reengage with the fun side of the Internet. While conventional search engines have fanatical aspirations with regard to accuracy, Wacko Search takes a diametrically opposed approach.
Users visiting wackosearch.com will see the web site's logo, a duck, and the tagline, 'you will be amazed at how wrong he can be', along with a text field to enter search terms. Visitors can search as they would in a traditional search engine, but there the similarity with regular search engines ends; after clicking either 'Wacko Search' or 'I'm Feeling Ducky' users are presented with a results list of completely unrelated sites.
Loyaltynet Managing Director, Phil Thomson, says, "of course, primarily it is a bit of fun, what else can you say about a web site that always gets the search results wrong and is operated by a duck?
"However there is a semi serious side. Many web users have forgotten, or simply never knew the joy of surfing the web. The thrill of finding different and interesting sites that you never knew existed. Search engines have dramatically reduced (if not killed off) the art of web surfing. While you may never find what you are looking for with Wacko Search, I am certain you will be surprised by, and will enjoy, what you do find."
